One thing I’ve noticed lately is how easily many Christians make excuses for sin today.
Not always because they want to sin, but often because of ignorance.
A few days ago, I was talking with someone and I remembered some of the crazy things I did when I was much younger.
Back then, my school closes by 2pm but compulsory lessons till 4pm. Revival at my church usually started around 5pm (I can't really remember). If I waited till lessons end, I’d get to church around 6pm because my school was quite far from home.
So… I weighed my options.
Sometimes (sometimes o 😂), I’d sneak out through an opening in the school fence after closing just to avoid lessons and make it to revival early 🌚😂.
And the funny thing?
I felt fully justified. After all, “shebi it’s revival I’m going for.”
...but now, looking back, I understand something much deeper.
The “all unrighteousness is sin.” part of the scripture does not offer an exception. There is no footnote that says “except when you’re doing it for God.”
Unrighteousness is unrighteousness.
You cannot complement a righteous God with an unrighteous act and assume the glory still belongs to Him. God would rather not take the glory at all than accept it through disobedience.
...and the devil is joyous when we are confused, calling it devotion
Think about Saul.
He offered sacrifices to God because Samuel delayed. His intention looked spiritual, but the instruction was clear, he was not a priest. The fact that it was “for God” didn’t make it an exception for sin (disobedience), he received his reward.
Uzzah too.
Touching the ark looked like a good idea. It was “for God.” But it was outside God’s order and instruction, he got rewarded too
Obedience has a way, and God does not ignore it. Don't chose ignorance.
